Chickpea & Sunflower Fritter with Sunflower Sprouted Dip

Fritter Ingredients:

  • 1 cup chickpea sprouts¬†
  • 1 cup sunflower sprouts
  • 3/4 cup plain flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • 1/2 cup milk¬†

Dip Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup sunflower sprouts
  • 125g cream cheese
  • 1 tbsp Sweet chilli Sauce

Sprout Preparation:

1 cup of sunflower seeds and 1/2 cup of chickpea seeds soaked for 8-10 hours. At least one day before making recipe. Once seeds are soaked rinse and drain, leave to start spouting process.


  1. Place all dip ingredients into a bowl and mix together. Place bowl in fridge to chill while making fritters.
  2. Place chickpea sprouts in a food processor and pulse until lightly chopped.
  3. In a separate bowl sift flour, banking powder, salt, black pepper, nutmeg.
  4. Add the beaten egg, milk mix well to combine. Stir in the sunflower and chickpea sprouts. 
  5. heat oil or butter in a frying pan.
  6. Place heaped spoonful's of the mixture into the pan. Cook until golden then flip and cook the other side.
  7. Place 3 fritters stacked in the middle of plate and top with a generous spoonful of sunflower sprouted dip.  

Serving suggestion: this recipe will make 6 large fritters or 8 - 10 small fritters. Great for the whole family.
